What we collect

When you contact us or ask for a quote, we collect the information you give us: your name, email address, phone number, the address of the property concerned, the service you are interested in, and anything else you choose to include in your message.

If you go on to instruct us, we will also hold the information needed to carry out the work, such as access arrangements, details about the property, and records of our correspondence with you.

When you visit this website our server records standard technical information, including your IP address, browser type and the pages requested. We use this to keep the site secure and working.

How we use it, and why we are allowed to

We use your information to:

• respond to your enquiry and prepare a quote — because you have asked us to take steps before entering a contract;
• carry out the survey or assessment you instruct — to perform our contract with you;
• keep records required for professional, regulatory, insurance and tax purposes — to comply with legal obligations and in our legitimate interests;
• keep this website secure and deal with misuse — in our legitimate interests.

We do not use your information for marketing unless you have asked us to, and we do not sell it.

Who we share it with

We share personal information only where it is needed to deliver the work or run our business, including with:

• qualified surveyors and assessors who carry out inspections on our behalf;
• the national EPC register, where we lodge an Energy Performance Certificate;
• our IT, hosting and email providers;
• our professional advisers and insurers;
• regulators, courts or public authorities where the law requires it.

Anyone processing information on our behalf is required to keep it secure and use it only on our instructions.

International transfers

Our data is held in the UK and European Economic Area. If any provider transfers information outside those areas, we make sure appropriate safeguards are in place as required by UK data protection law.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not lead to an instruction are deleted after 12 months. Records relating to work we carry out are kept for up to 15 years, reflecting the period during which a professional negligence claim can be brought. Server logs are kept for a short period for security purposes.

Cookies

This site does not use advertising or tracking cookies. It uses only cookies that are strictly necessary for it to work. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which means your browser connects to Google and shares your IP address with it to deliver the font files.

Your rights

You have the right to ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to ask for it to be transferred to someone else. Some rights apply only in certain circumstances. To make a request, contact info@mees.co.uk. We will respond within one month.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please contact us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
